Standard Test Method for Using a Rolling Inclinometer to Measure Longitudinal and Transverse Profiles of a Traveled Surface
1.1 This test method describes the measurement of transverse and longitudinal profiles of traveled surfaces using a Rolling Inclinometer Device operated by a person or propelled/steered by automation.
1.2 It shall be designed to acquire raw slope data and compute elevations to produce profiles that may be used to: (1) quantify the roughness of new pavements and bridge decks, (2) investigate the effect of various construction methods on surface roughness, and (3) serve as a reference device for qualifying high-speed inertial profilers.
1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only.
1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
1.5 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
