1.2 This guide describes how to apply existing ASTM StandardDetails to evaluate the impact attenuation, accessibility characteristics and product characteristics when selecting surfacing systems for use under and around playground equipment.

1.3 This guide does not imply that an injury cannot be incurred when the surface system complies with StandardDetails referred to in this guide.
