    CSA Preface This is the first edition of CSA C22.2 No. 60086-4, Primary batteries — Part 4: Safety of lithium batteries, which is an adoption, with Canadian deviations, of the identically titled IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) Standard 60086-4 (fourth edition, 2014-09). It is one in a series of StandardDetails issued by CSA Group under Part II of the Canadian Electrical Code. For brevity, this Standard will be referred to as "CSA C22.2 No. 60086-4" throughout. This Standard is intended to be used in conjunction with CSA C22.2 No. 60086-1:19, Primary batteries — Part 1: General (adopted IEC 60086-1:2015). This Standard has been developed in compliance with StandardDetails Council of Canada requirements for National StandardDetails of Canada. It has been published as a National Standard of Canada by CSA Group. Scope This Part of IEC 60086 specifies tests and requirements for primary lithium batteries to ensure their safe operation under intended use and reasonably foreseeable misuse. NOTE Primary lithium batteries that are standardized in IEC 60086-2 are expected to meet all applicable requirements herein. It is understood that consideration of this part of IEC 60086 might also be given to measuring and/or ensuring the safety of non-standardized primary lithium batteries. In either case, no claim or warranty is made that compliance or non-compliance with this standard will fulfil or not fulfil any of the user’s particular purposes or needs.
