CSA Preface This is the third edition of CSA ISO 10079-3, Medical suction equipment — Part 3: Suction equipment powered from a vacuum or positive pressure gas source, which is an adoption without modification of the identically titled ISO (International Organization for Standardization) Standard, ISO 10079-3:2022 (fourth edition, 2022-03). It supersedes the previous edition, published in 2014 as CAN/CSA-ISO 10079-3 (adopted ISO 10079-3:2014). For brevity, this Standard will be referred to as "CSA ISO 10079-3" throughout. CSA Group acknowledges that the adoption of this Standard was made possible, in part, by the financial support of the governments of Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia, Nunavut, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Saskatchewan, and Yukon, as administered by the Canada’s Drug Agency (CDA-AMC). This Standard was reviewed for Canadian adoption by the CSA Technical Committee on Perioperative Safety, under the jurisdiction of the Strategic Steering Committee on Health and Well-being, and has been formally approved by the Technical Committee. This Standard has been developed in compliance with Standards Council of Canada requirements for National Standards of Canada. Scope This document specifies basic safety and performance requirements for medical suction equipment powered from a vacuum or positive pressure gas source generating venturi suction. It applies to suction equipment connected to medical gas pipeline systems or cylinders and venturi attachments and can be standalone or part of an integrated system.
