CSA Preface This is the third edition of CSA E60598-2-2, Luminaires — Part 2-2: Particular requirements — Recessed luminaires and recessed air-handling luminaires, which is an adoption, with Canadian deviations, of the identically titled IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) Standard 60598-2-2 (fourth edition, 2023-01). It supersedes the previous edition, published in 2023 as CSA E60598-2-2 (adopted IEC 60598-2-2:2011), Luminaires — Part 2-2: Particular requirements — Recessed luminaires. For brevity, this Standard will be referred to as "CSA E60598-2-2" throughout. The major differences between this edition and the previous edition include • the addition of requirements for air-handling luminaires; and • the allowance of holes not exceeding 15% of the luminaire opening in recessed luminaires. This Standard is intended to be used in conjunction with CSA E60598-1:23, Luminaires — Part 1: General requirements and tests (adopted IEC 60598-1:2020, with Canadian deviations). This Standard is considered suitable for use for conformity assessment within the stated scope of the Standard. This Standard was reviewed for Canadian adoption by the CSA Integrated Committee on Lighting Products, under the jurisdiction of the CSA Technical Committee on International StandardDetails and the CSA Strategic Steering Committee on Requirements for Electrical Safety, and has been formally approved by the Technical Committee. This Standard has been developed in compliance with StandardDetails Council of Canada requirements for National StandardDetails of Canada. It has been published as a National Standard of Canada by CSA Group. Scope This part of IEC 60598 specifies requirements for recessed luminaires incorporating electric light sources for operation from supply voltages up to 1 000 V. It also specifies requirements for recessed air-handling luminaires for use with a ventilation duct or ventilated space (plenum). NOTE The expressions "ventilation" and "ventilated" in this document refer to forced ventilation.
