IEEE Guide for Field Testing and Evaluation of the Insulation of Shielded Power Cable Systems Rated 5 kV and Above
Full Description
Scope
This guide includes field testing techniques that are frequently used for shielded, insulated power cable systems rated 5 kV and above. The guide describes the tests and gives advantages and disadvantages, suggested applications, and typical results. Guides covering some of the test methods listed are available in the form of IEEE 400 “point” documents. Some methods that are less frequently used or no longer used are identified in the relevant sections.
Purpose
The purpose of this document is to provide a guide for cable system asset management, which contains an overview of the various test methods available for evaluating the insulation of shielded cable systems in the field.
Abstract
Revision Standard - Active. Various field test methods that are currently available for or have been developed are listed in this guide. The guide covers shielded, insulated power cable systems rated 5 kV and above. The guide also describes the tests and gives advantages and disadvantages, suggested applications, and typical results.
